Passivhaus Institut Darmstadt
Research and development of high-efficiency
energy systems.
The Passivhaus Institut was founded in 1996, by
Dr. Wolfgang Feist, as an independent research institution. It employs
physicists, mathematicians and civil, mechanical and environmental engineers,
performing research and development on highly efficient energy use.
Our Services:
-
Consultants to architects and engineers on planning
and design of passive construction (windows, ventilation systems, building
systems and components, etc.).
-
Support to manufacturers on development and optimization
of components suitable for passive construction.
-
Perform energy use and comfort measurements on buildings,
and scientific evaluation of the results.
-
Presentations, seminars and meetings on the subject
of passive construction.
-
Scientifically based certification..
-
Development of concepts and simulations of solar
energy use.
-
Computation of interior air flow using computational
fluid dynamics, and multizonal airflow models.
-
Tracer gas measurements to quantify the flow of air
and pollution, also in occupied buildings (e.g., to certify proper functioning
of ventilation systems).
-
Simulation of thermal behavior of buildings using
DYNBIL (a thermal modeling program).
-
Development of the "Passivhaus Projektierungs Paket"
(PHPP
- Passive House Development Package), a worksheet used to balance energy
requirements of passive buildings.
